Founder and Bishop‍

Bishop Darryl White
Darryl A. White is the Senior Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center. However, he believes that there is no greater role than that of a godly husband & father which he wholeheartedly devotes himself too. He understands that his first call to ministry is that of a husband to his childhood sweetheart of 29 years Shirlene Nesbit White. They met during a Youth & Sunday School convention and the rest was history. His second love is the ministry of fatherhood to Ebony Nicole and Darryl Jr., which he continues to embrace at every stage of their lives.

While he holds various accomplishments in business, education, and community involvement, his greatest honor is having been chosen for the cause of Christ. Having overcome a personal disability, Pastor Darryl models that there are no limitations to those that put their trust in the Lord. Armed with this knowledge, he established the Community Empowerment Center in 2000, a non-profit organization designed to reach out to those whom life discarded and left behind. His efforts through CEC has helped to cultivate the fertile grounds of potential and hope for many men, women, and children who did not know they could overcome poverty & adversity.

Having journeyed to the Holy Land, Pastor Darryl was able to experience walking where Jesus walked and seeing what Jesus saw. This opportunity to physically touch and handle the foundation of his faith has ignited an unquenchable passion to elevate the Gospel message! Preaching and teaching with a greater intensity, Pastor Darryl desires to see a stirring up of the saints so that there can be an even greater impact in reaching the lost for the Kingdom of God.

On a personal note, Pastor Darryl is both competitive and adventurous. He enjoys Dobermans, horseback riding, go-karts, bowling and motorcycles.

Pastor Shirlene White
As the eldest of three siblings, born to parents deeply rooted in the Christian faith and the work of ministry, Pastor Shirlene’s love of the Lord was nurtured from birth. With continuous exposure to the elder mothers of the church, her mentoring, mothering, and management skills began to take shape as she showed wisdom beyond her tender years. Much of who she is today can be traced through the lineage of seasoned saints whose lineage she works hard to honor.

Blessed to be serving with her husband for many years, it is Pastor Shirlene’s endeavor to draw from her spiritual foundation to support others who have not walked in her shoes. Deeply embedded in the realms of prayer, praise, and worship in both Word and song, Pastor Shirlene possesses a travailing spirit which enables her to nurture and birth others into their spiritual destinies.

Ministering beyond the bricks of the traditional church arena, Pastor Shirlene touches the lives of many as the Human Resources Manager of an international textile company. Her life-changing trip to the Holy Land of Israel has brought Pastor Shirlene full circle in her faith as she has gained a more purposed focus on sharing the simplicity of the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Believing that the mantle of ministry must be passed forward, Pastor Shirlene is living to leave a legacy to her children’s children so they shall rise up and call her blessed.

On a more personal note, Pastor Shirlene is quite competitive with a passion for games, bowling, music, art and is an avid bookworm!
